Veteran defensive back, Joe Haden, released by Cleveland Browns

The Cleveland Browns released defensive back Joe Haden on Wednesday, the team announced in a release.

The two-time Pro Bowler had been with the Browns since 2010 and started 81 of 90 games. Haden, a first-round draft pick in '10, tallied 48 tackles and led the team in interceptions in 2016. He totaled 376 tackles and 19 interceptions in his career with Cleveland.

“Joe gave everything he had for the Cleveland Browns and that’s all you can ask for as a coach,” Browns coach Hue Jackson said in a statement. “He was a leader on and off the field."

Browns executive vice president of football operations Sashi Brown added: "These are very difficult decisions; we have the utmost respect for Joe and in my eyes, he will always be a Cleveland Brown.”
